ABOUT: CANAAN DOG DOG BREED
The Canaan Dog is a versatile and intelligent breed known for their loyalty and adaptability. Originating in Israel, these dogs were historically used for herding and guarding tasks. With a distinctive appearance characterized by prick ears and a curled tail, the Canaan Dog is a medium sized, agile companion that excels in various canine activities such as obedience, agility, and even search and rescue. With proper socialization and training, the Canaan Dog makes a loving and devoted family pet.
The Collie is a graceful and intelligent dog known for their loyalty, gentle nature, and exceptional herding abilities. They come in two coat varieties, rough and smooth, with colors ranging from sable and white to blue merle. Collies excel in obedience training and thrive on mental stimulation and physical activity. Their keen intuition and strong bond with their owners make them wonderful family pets and reliable working dogs in tasks such as herding livestock or in search and rescue missions.
We are DC's only open-access shelter. We are always available to help any animal in the District of Columbia. We have cats, dogs, rabbits, and more available for adoption out of our two shelters and also run the Capital Area Spay and Neuter Center.
